RIIMPO317F Conduct roller operations

About this course
This nationally accredited short course covers the skills and knowledge required to operate a roller to compact material.  This unit derives from the RII30820 – Certificate III in Civil Construction Plant Operations.

Application

  • This unit applies to those who work in operational roles.
  • This unit alone does not provide sufficient skill to independently load and unload equipment. To perform this activity safely, personnel must either complete or be assisted by someone who has completed the RIIHAN308F Load and Unload Plant or equivalent.

Licensing, legislative, regulatory and certification requirements that apply to this unit can vary between states, territories, and industry sectors, and must be sourced from the relevant jurisdiction

Jurisdiction: This is a nationally recognised qualification that qualifies you to safely operate a roller on-site and can be used when applying for jobs in the civil construction and resources sector across Australia. Sites may require further training according to their standards.

Licence: You do not need a specific license to operate a roller on-site under the Work Health and Safety Act 2011. However, where a certificate is no longer required for earth-moving activities, the PCBU has a primary duty of care duty under the Act to ensure that workers are trained and competent to do this work safely; this unit can and may be used to satisfy some of the requirements.
