Course Overview

This nationally accredited short course covers the skills and knowledge required to load, haul and distribute water using a water vehicle.

Water truck drivers are in demand. Use this course to improve your employment opportunities in the civil and resource sectors. 

Skills developed include:

  • Conducting prestart and start-up checks before commencing operations
  • Identifying and acting on faults or defects
  • Managing engine power to ensure the distribution of water
  • Coordinating engine power with gear selection
  • Loading, hauling and distributing water suited to vehicle capacity and conditions
  • Parking up, shutting down, securing and carrying out post-operational inspection of equipment
  • Finalising work activities

Duration: 1 day (depending on competency)

Times: 7:00 am to 3:00 pm

Class Size: 4-6 

Location: Noble Training Facility or Work Site 

Assessment method: Theory and Practical

Course Fees

Subsidised*: $200 or 3 for $400

About this course
This nationally accredited short course covers the skills and knowledge required to load, haul and distribute water using a water vehicle.  This unit derives from the RII30820 – Certificate III in Civil Construction Plant Operations.

Application

Licensing, legislative, regulatory and certification requirements that apply to this unit can vary between states, territories, and industry sectors, and must be sourced from the relevant jurisdiction.

Jurisdiction: This is a nationally recognised qualification that qualifies you to safely operate water on-site and can be used when applying for jobs in the civil construction and resources sector across Australia. Sites may require further training according to their standards.

Licence: A truck licence is required to accommodate the Gross Vehicle Mass (GVM), as the truck fully loaded with water exceeds the weight restrictions of a standard car licence.  Link to Worksafe Qld

Course Duration

Pre-course written work will support a minimum of 1 day of face-to-face training and assessment.

RPL
Applicants with substantial industry experience may apply for recognition of prior learning.

Course Requirements

Students are required to meet the following to enrol:

Minimum age: 18

Literacy and numeracy skills to:

  • read relevant workplace information
  • to understand weight load limits

Provide own serviceable Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) including:

  • Safety boots
  • Hi-Vis Vest
  • Long sleeves pants and shirt

Sites may require:

  • Hearing protection
  • Gloves
  • Hard Hat

Course Outcome
Successful students receive a Statement of Attainment which is recognised under the Australian Qualifications Framework.
